WHITEVILLE — Mr. Thomas J. Fisher, 78, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center. He was born Jan. 8, 1936 in Columbus County, the son of the late Shade Thomas Fisher and Edna Hinson Fisher. He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Fisher; and two sisters, Mildred Dove and Thelma Blackmon.
Thomas retired after 25 years as magistrate in Columbus County. He was also a retired farmer. He formerly owned and operated Tub’s Texaco in Whiteville. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed sharing with his friends and family.
His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at Peacock Funeral Home. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 in the Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ronnie Wilson and Randy Speight officiating. Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Williams Fisher; one daughter, Renee Fisher Turbeville and husband, David, of Whiteville; one granddaughter, Savannah Turbeville.
