WOODVILLE, Fla. — Roy Lee Tompkins, 71, formerly of Tabor City, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 following a short illness. He was born March 7, 1943 in Tabor City, the son of the late Oscar and Mae Tompkins. He was a self-made man working in construction most of his life and owned Roy’s Home Improvements Inc. until 2005.
A funeral/memorial service was held April 17 at the LDS Chapel in Crawfordville, Fla. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at Lake Tabor Park (Mill Pond) on Lynwood Norris Road in Tabor City.
He is survived by his siblings, Eston Thompkins, Bruce Thompkins and Shirley Watts, all of Tabor City; his children, Donnie and Wayne Thompkins, both of Tabor City and David Fish, Kenneth Fish and Michelle Bull, all of Tallahassee, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
