Another sad
attempt to
intimidate

A spate of letters distributed in western portions of the county purporting to be from the Ku Klux Klan should be little cause for concern.

Chances are, the letters, which are a diatribe against Fair Bluff Elementary black students who are attending Evergreen and Cerro Gordo schools for the first time this morning, were written by a couple of rednecks with a PC and a 12-pack of Budweisers.

As is usually the case with hate groups like the KKK, no one signed their names to the fliers. They were distributed in the darkness. Even the phone number left to call for more information is disconnected. It’s easy to say stupid things or make threats under the cloak of anonymity.

It’s hard to believe that such bigotry still exists, but everybody has his or her opinions, no matter how foolish they are. Fortunately, most people can see through this sad attempt for what it’s worth.
