Landmark restaurant padlocked

padlockedA well-known downtown Whiteville restaurant has been padlocked by the state revenue office.

Mamma Rita’s Restaurant owes $15,994 in taxes, fines and interest to the N.C. Department of Revenue, according to a tax lien on file with the Columbus County Clerk of Superior Court. The lien was filed March 13, according to court documents, and attached this week.
