Coach Rocky Lewis earned his first win as his East Columbus Gators topped Trask 30-12. The Gators ended a 14-game losing streak with the convincing win.
Nydir Carr had a hand (and a couple of legs) in all four Whiteville touchdowns and the Wolfpack survived against West Brunswick 26-22. Carr had two rushing and two passing TDs for the injury-plagued Wolfpack squad. Whiteville had eight players projected to be starters in street clothes for this game.
South Columbus caught Wallace Rose Hill at a bad time. Actually, is there a good time to face the Bulldogs? WRH had lost to James Kenan the previous Friday and tookout some of their frustration on the Stallions in a 52-0 win.
West Columbus was open on Friday.
See Monday’s print edition of The News Reporter for more details on these games.
