Whiteville City Manager Larry Faison has accepted a similar job with the City of Monroe, pending final terms of employment there.
Faison announced his resignation to the board over the weekend, and sent an official email Monday morning.
His contract calls for no severance package, and unless the city council chooses otherwise, Faison will serve until Oct. 10.
“My tenure with the City of Whiteville has been a source of many emotions involving challenges we encountered, successes we have achieved, and the friendships/acquaintances I felt were made along the way,” Faison wrote. “To the extent my remaining time allows, I will endeavor to position the Mayor, Council and Staff to meet the transition period and to continue meeting the vast interests of our community.”
Faison said he and his wife Cora consider the city “one of the most enjoyable places to be a public official.”
The city council will meet in special session Wednesday to discuss the transition and recruiting a new manager. See Thursday’s NR for more.
