CERRO GORDO — Elsie Faye Martin Williamson, 85, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her daughter’s residence. She was born in Columbus County Feb. 1, 1929, the daughter of the late, Byron Van and Blanche Brown Martin.
She was the widow of Jesse Owen Williamson Jr. and was preceded in death by two sons, Jesse Keith Williamson and Glenn Allen Williamson; two brothers, Van Buren Martin and Alton Ray Martin; and two sisters, Margaret Eloise Gibson and Rachel Christine Fulcher.
Faye Williamson was a hard worker her entire life. She was a farmer’s wife and worked in every aspect of tobacco for more than 40 years. In addition, she held public jobs at Ithaca, Anvil and Georgia Pacific.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 8 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Her funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Phyllis Williamson Pope, and her husband, Kenneth, of Cerro Gordo; one sister, Pennie Wilson of Knightdale; two brothers, Carroll Martin of Chadbourn, Gene Martin of Edgewater, Md.; one granddaughter, Brittany Lauren Rogers and her husband, Christopher, of Enid, Okla.; one great-grandson, Hudson Christopher Rogers of Enid, Okla.; and special friend, Lewis Norman Grainger (Sonny) of Chadbourn.
